The EU Budget for 2019 - provisional agreement reached

On Tuesday 4 December, the European Parliament and the Council, with the support of the Commission, reached a provisional agreement on the 2019 EU budget during a decisive trilogue. European farmers will benefit from €59.0 billion. The European Parliament and the Council both have to formally approve the text. Read more

Vote on the PEST draft report on EU authorisation procedure for pesticides

This week on 6 December 2018, Parliament’s special committee on pesticides will vote on the draft report and the 1141 tabled amendments. A large amount of compromises have been negotiated. The final report, containing factual findings and recommendations as to measures and initiatives to be taken is expected in plenary in January 2019.

United States is Europe's number one soya beans supplier with EU imports up by 100%

Today the European Commission has published the latest figures on EU imports of soya beans from the United States, showing an increase of 100% compared to the same period last year. Currently the U.S. accounts for more than two thirds of the soya beans imported by the European Union. Read more

Brexit: Special meeting of the European Council (Art. 50)

EU27 leaders endorsed the Brexit withdrawal agreement, as presented by the negotiators of the EU and the UK. Leaders also approved the political declaration on future EU-UK relations, which accompanies and is referred to in the withdrawal agreement. Read more

The EU Commission published report on the development of plant proteins in the EU

The report on the development of plant proteins in the European Union reviews the supply and demand situation for plant proteins in the EU and explores the possibilities to further develop their production in an economically and environmentally sound way. It also summarises the analysis of the protein sector in the EU, carried out by the Commission.
